Welcome to Rooted & Roaming
Hi, I’m Orquidea.
I’m a wife, mom of three boys, nurse by day and the creator of Rooted & Roaming.
This space was born from a love of travel and a desire to make exploring the world feel more accessible, especially for families and everyday people like me. For years, I had this desire to someday travel the world. I had assumed that in order to do that I needed countless of PTO days and lots of money in my back account. But I’ve learned that with intention, good planning, and courage, it can become part of your life right now.
My Story
Like many women, I’ve spent years balancing family, work, and every day responsibility while putting my own dreams on the back burner, hoping to one day get to them. Over time, I realized I didn’t want to wait anymore to experience the world. Travel became a way to create memories with my family, and step into a fuller version of life. More recently, it became a way to reconnect with myself. First as an escape, and as a way to feel alive again, to see beauty again, and to remind myself that there is more to life than routine and survival.
Why Rooted & Roaming
I created Rooted & Roaming to help make travel feel simple, realistic, and most importantly inspiring. Whether it’s a weekend road trip, a family vacation, or an international adventure, my goal is to show that meaningful travel doesn’t have to be complicated or out of reach.
Here you’ll find:
Real itineraries,
Budget-friendly travel ideas,
travel inspiration,
practical tips to help you plan with confidence.
My hope is that this space encourages you to explore more, plan boldly, and believe that adventure still belongs to you—no matter what season of life you’re in.
You don’t have to choose between being rooted and roaming. You can be both.
Welcome to the journey.
Life, with its rules, its obligations, and its freedoms, is like a sonnet: You’re given the form, but you have to write the sonnet yourself.
